Employment authorities as new actors in transition security
The employment authorities provide both employers and personal customers with free-of-charge and impartial advice, information, guidance and human support in change situations. The employment authorities work in close cooperation in the areas to manage change situations.
With the employment service reform, municipalities taking the role of employment authorities are new actors in transition security. Due to the reform, there were 45 new employment areas formed. The employment authorities have to provide employers with employment services irrespective of their domicile or place of business. The same also applies to the transition security service.
Notifying the employment authorities of change situations
As an employer, you may have a statutory obligation to notify the employment authorities of change situations as well as other service requirements pertaining to reduction situations. In the first instance, you should contact the employment authority of your organisation's place of domicile.
The customer relationships of employers will not be automatically transferred to the new employment areas. Please contact your local employment authority by phone or email or visit their offices. After that, you can continue to manage your affairs using your preferred method.
