Technical specifications for the video connection
Video connection requirements
For a video connection, you need a computer or mobile device that has
- an Internet connection
- a microphone
- speakers or headphones; and
- a video camera
We use Microsoft Teams. We will send you an email link for the video connection before your career guidance appointment. There is no additional cost for using the video connection. If there are technical problems with the video connection, the career guidance psychologist will call you by phone. Stay calm and wait to be contacted. For your privacy, we cannot use the Teams chat feature for career guidance conversations.
Video connection on a computer
If you are using a computer, you do not have to download Teams; you can join a Teams meeting with a web browser. We recommend using the Chrome browser, where you can connect by following these steps:
- Open the meeting invite you received by email and click “Join Microsoft Teams Meeting”
- You will have two choices: Download the Windows app OR Join on the web instead. Click “Join on the web instead”.
- To create the connection, give Teams access to the camera and microphone on your computer. If you do not want to use a video connection, you can deny access to the camera.
- Enter your name in the appropriate field and click “Join now".
Video connection on a tablet or mobile device
If you are using a mobile device, you will need the Teams app. What to do:
- Open the meeting invite you received by email and click “Join Microsoft Teams Meeting”
- Tap the Get the Teams App link.
- Install the free Microsoft Teams app from the app store.
- Open Teams.
- Tap “Join as a guest”
- Enter your name in the appropriate field.
- Allow Teams to record audio, images and video. Audio and video will not be stored on your mobile device; the permission is required so that the connection can use your microphone and camera. If you do not want to use a video connection, you can deny access to pictures and video.
- The Teams meeting opens. Turn on the microphone and camera using the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Data protection considerations
In terms of information security and data protection, Teams conversations are safe if the following things are taken into account:
- The customer is responsible for the security of their device and for arranging a remote connection.
- The Teams chat feature is not used at all during the career guidance conversation.
- The customer does not share the meeting invitation link to anyone else.
- No video recording will be made of the conversation.
- The customer avoids using a VPN connection or makes sure that the VPN connection point is within the EU/EEA area.
- The customer may opt out of using a remote visual connection for customer service.
