How to fill in your job applicant profile

Do you find it difficult to find jobs with traditional job searches that offer tens of thousands of jobs? Job Market Finland's job applicant profile gives you suggestions for jobs that are right for you. The more details of your competence and work experience you provide, the better suggestions you will be given.

To fill in a job applicant profile, log in to Job Market Finland. Logging in to Job Market Finland requires strong identification. You can do this with your online banking ID, a mobile certificate, or an identity card with a chip.

After logging in, go to the ‘Job applicant profile’ tab.

Your job applicant profile consists of three sections: ‘Knowledge and skills’, ‘Introduction’, and ‘Work experience and education’. If you complete all sections as comprehensively as possible, you will receive job suggestions that are suitable for you. The information you add to the job applicant profile is not visible to employment officials.

  • In the ‘Knowledge and skills’ section, you can describe your skills and the work you would be interested in, as well as your language skills and professional qualifications.
  • In the ‘Introduction’ section, you can add a title to your job applicant profile, write a short introduction text about yourself, and indicate when you would like to start working and in which area you are looking for a job.
  • In the ‘Work experience and education’ section, you can give details on your work experience and education. The information is automatically listed in chronological order.

The information you enter in your job applicant profile will be automatically saved. After entering just a few bits of information, you will see recommended jobs on the ‘Job recommendations’ tab. The more information you add to your profile, the more suitable your job suggestions will be.

When you publish a job applicant profile, you can present your skills and competence to employers who are looking for employees at Job Market Finland. Employers can browse published job applicant profiles in the employee search, and when an employer publishes a job posting, Job Market Finland provides proposals on suitable job seekers. If you want to allow employers using Job Market Finland to see your profile and contact you, click on ‘Review and publish’. The employers' contact requests are sent by email, so please remember to check whether you have received messages. When you publish a profile, you also need to set a publication period for it. This can be for up to six months. Remember to republish your profile if necessary.

The keywords vocabulary used in job postings is based in part on a Europe-wide occupation and competence ontology, which unfortunately does not contain all of Finland's well-known professions and related competences. Do not let this affect your process of creating a profile. Instead, select the nearest job titles and competence terminology. You can learn more about job titles and terminology on the ESCO professional terminology website.

Based on the information you have added to your profile, you will receive suggestions for jobs that are right for you on the ‘Job recommendations’ tab. The underlying technical solution and matching process is under constant development. You can read more about labour matching on the ‘This is how matching works’ page.

Filling in a job applicant profile is worth the trouble. Once completed, it is easy to update your profile whenever you acquire new competence or experience or complete your studies.
