Espoo involved in piloting Job Market Finland regional pages

  • News

As one of the municipalities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Espoo is piloting the regional pages of Job Market Finland. Tony Sandström, Senior Planning Officer of the City of Espoo, says that the starting point was the service perspective, in particular. It is a large area with a lot of operators and employment services. That is why Espoo wanted to see how Job Market Finland could serve as a common forum.

The thinking has been that regional pages of Job Market Finland would be created at the regional level. However, in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, it might be necessary to work with smaller areas, says Tony Sandström.

The timing of starting the pilot was somewhat challenging at the turn of the year, when preparations for local government trials on employment were at their most intense, Tony Sandström adds. Despite this, Espoo has now described and updated its services so that they can be correctly entered into the Suomi.fi service catalogue. From there, they can also be displayed in Job Market Finland without any further effort.

Job Market Finland regional pages can therefore offer a solution to making it as easy as possible for customers to access all the employment services available through one site.

- Of course it’s also good that in addition to services, the site displays vacancies, and employers have the opportunity to find employees, Tony Sandström continues.

The possibility of a regional theme site also seems interesting. There are no plans for this yet, but of course we will keep it in mind in case we need additional space and visibility for a specific theme, Tony Sandström says.

What regional pages?

The regional content of Job Market Finland will be piloted in early 2021. The regional pages consist of topical content, services, jobs and possible theme pages. The objective of the piloting project is to test how the planned contents and other solutions work in practice. The pilot will also generate data on the planning of regional cooperation models.

The pilot includes seven regions: The municipalities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area (Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa), Tampere, Kouvola, Vaasa and Mikkeli with their partner areas. Kuusamo and Taivalkoski have joined the project later.
