Termination of employer status

If you stop paying regular wages or your entire business ceases to operate, remember to submit the necessary notifications.

If your company ceases to operate completely, submit a termination notification in the Business Information System.

Alternatively, if you stop paying regular wages or it becomes occasional, you must notify the Tax Administration. The Tax Administration will notify you once your company has been removed from the employer register. Statutory notifications and fees will obligate you as long as your company is registered as an employer.

If you continue to pay wages occasionally after leaving the employer register, remember to notify the Incomes Register of the Finnish Tax Administration of the wages you have paid.

You can contact the employment authority in your region and get support for various employer-related situations through the Business E-services.

You can find the employment authority's services for employers and entrepreneurs in the Business E-services.
