Services and integration plan for immigrants
When you move to Finland, employment services provide you with assistance for integration and employment.
Integration and employment services to help you
When you move to Finland, the employment services will help you integrate and find work.
When you come to Finland as an immigrant, it is important to integrate. This means gaining the knowledge and skills needed in Finnish society. The employment authorities offer various services to help you integrate. Your family members who move to Finland with you may also be entitled to integration services.
If you are looking for a job, the employment services can help you. A wide range of services is available to support your employment.
Assessing which services you need for skills and integration
The employment authority or municipality will work with you to assess which services you need for skills and integration. They will interview you and take any other necessary measures, such as expert assessments. The employment authority can also ask the wellbeing services county to help assess which services you need.
The assessment of your need for skills and integration services covers:
- your skills, working capacity and functional capacity,
- your readiness for work or studying, or integrating in a different way, and
- your need for training or services that promote integration.
Assessing which services you need, often including an assessment of your language skills, provides a good basis for preparing an integration plan and applying for integration training.
Integration plan
The integration plan will be prepared with you as necessary. This may be done when you have your initial interview as part of the assessment of service needs. The plan includes actions to help you:
- develop adequate Finnish or Swedish skills,
- gain the knowledge and skills needed in society and working life, and
- participate in society as an equal member.
The integration plan includes your participation in services that support your integration and employment. Suitable services for you may include integration training, job-seeking or career coaching or work try-out. The plan may also include studying Finnish, Swedish or your mother tongue or developing your reading and writing skills.
