According to a recent occupational barometer, there are again as many occupations with a shortage of workers as before the COVID-19 pandemic. The shortage of workers in the social welfare and healthcare sector remains the largest. New to the top of the list are professions in the restaurant and construction industries.

The need for registered and public health nurses as well as practical nurses is great throughout the country. Just a year ago, there was an oversupply of labor for restaurant and institutional catering workers. The situation has now clearly changed and there is a shortage of workers in this field all over Finland. The situation regarding construction overseers has varied regionally and, according to the latest assessment, the need is greatest in Häme and North Savo.
