Highway to ICT
The world is digitalising at a rapid pace, with a growing demand for skilled ICT professionals in many sectors. The training provided by the Highway to ICT project offers a solution to this challenge. It will give you the practical skills you need to use digital solutions and technology in your work. The training is free of charge and can also be completed while working.
For whom?
Residents of the Lapland, Kainuu, and Northern Ostrobothnia regions who are:
- Unemployed job seekers (especially young people)
- Those at risk of unemployment (especially young people)
- Interested in retraining
- Acquiring new ICT skills
- Working or have worked in industries undergoing structural changes
- Native Finnish individuals outside the labor force
- Foreign-background individuals outside the labor force

Theme of the project
The “Highway to ICT” project offers you low-threshold higher education level ICT training in collaboration with three universities of applied sciences. After the training provided by the project, you can find employment, pursue further studies, or start a new business.
What you do when participating in the project’s activities?
Note! The project’s trainings have separate application periods!
You will participate in a 45-credit training over six months.

Orientation period
- Software testing
- Low-code and no-code skills
- ICT business
- Internship in ICT tasks at a workplace
As a participant, you gain new skills in the ICT field, enabling you to pursue new job opportunities or start a business in the field.
