Need help planning your career?

News

The New Career Skills tool developed in the Career Management Skills Development Project coordinated by the KEHA Centre helps you understand your knowledge, skills and attitudes that affect your career plans. The tool includes exercises to improve your self-awareness, and your planning and decision-making skills.

The Career Skills tool is suited for everyone regardless of their life situation when reflecting on a new direction in their lives. The exercises will give you a better understanding of your current situation and tips for developing your competence.

The Career Skills tool has a quick self-assessment and a more in-depth assessment that you can respond to one section at a time. The more in-depth assessment addresses different themes related to career management skills, which include

  • know yourself,
  • competence first,
  • ready for change,
  • the world around you,
  • moving forward together, and
  • anticipating the future.

The tool will have you understand your own life story or reflect on the impacts changes in society will have on your future. You can review the answers together with someone like a guidance counsellor or an expert in employment services.

The tool has been designed in extensive cooperation with various actors in the field of guidance. It has been implemented in the Career management skills development project coordinated by the KEHA Centre. The tool was developed by Hyria and Taito United. The Swedish and English versions will be published by 30 November 2024.

The Career Skills tool will be part of the Competency Path service to be published later. The Competency Path will be developed in the Digital service package for continuous learning project jointly coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Both projects are funded by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility as part of Finland’s Sustainable Growth Programme.

Life can take you in many directions. Career skills will help you move forward from brainstorming.
