Job Market Finland gets good feedback in user testing

  • News

In February, we organised two user testing sessions during which our customers could fill in their job search profile and try out the upcoming registration as a jobseeker at Job Market Finland. User testing provided a lot of valuable information for the further development of the service.

Our job search profile was tested by six users, three of whom were already familiar with Job Market Finland. The aim was to test if the job search profile was clear and understandable. The profile had already been published but it has been much reformed. How could we still improve it? Is the profile easily found on the Job Market Finland’s website and easily filled? Do users like the job recommendations, and can they be easily found?

Some usability problems were identified in the tests, but at this stage of development, this is actually a good thing. Based on the testing, we are able to make the necessary fixes and see which areas still need development.

Second testing on the future Job Market Finland

In the future, you can register as a jobseeker through Job Market Finland, but as this option has not yet been published, we tested it with a prototype. It is definitely interesting to test something at such an early stage of development!

The registration as a jobseeker was also tested by six users, two of whom had never registered as a jobseeker before. We wanted to test how easy it was to enter the job search data and information related to unemployment security, and what kind of an impression our users had about our interface. We practised completing a request for clarification and preparing an employment plan. Among other things, we wanted to know if all the necessary information was easy to find and if the instructions were sufficiently understandable.

The test tasks for registering as a jobseeker were mostly successful and only one critical problem was found, for which we can now start looking for a solution.

What did we learn?

‘The user tests we carried out now again showed how important it is to obtain information about the functionality of the service from real users. Although users are already involved in the planning phase, it is still important to receive feedback on the end result’, says Henriikka Kokkola, product manager at the KEHA Centre.

Feedback is also welcomed in the future; it really has an impact. You can also follow our social media channels for invitations to participate in future user testing.
