The number of unemployed jobseekers rose by 27,200 from July of last year

The number of new vacancies reported totalled 25,100. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies in July was 48,200, which is 53,500 fewer than a year ago.

At the end of July, the number of unemployed jobseekers totalled 306,000. This is 27,200 more than a year earlier and 12,700 more than in the previous month. These figures are from the Employment Bulletin of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

At the end of July, there were 28,800 laid off people; a year-on-year increase of 5,700. The number of people fully laid off totalled 20,900, representing an increase of 2,500 from July the year before. The number of people fully laid off increased by 1,100 from June.

The number of unemployed jobseekers aged under 25 was 36,700, representing an increase of 5,700 from July last year. Of the unemployment periods of youths, 55.3 per cent ended before reaching three months between January and July. This is 2.6 percentage points fewer than the year before.
