This year, in addition to the traditional events in Imatra and Lappeenranta, Kesäksi duuniin 2026 Etelä-Karjala expanded to Luumäki and Parikkala. The largest summer job fairs in South Karelia attracted 650 visitors in Imatra, 80 in Luumäki, 880 in Lappeenranta, and 120 in Parikkala. Nearly 50 employers and other exhibitors participated across the events.

Summer job recruitment often begins early in the year, so it’s wise to start your search well in advance. Before applying, make sure your job application documents – such as your CV and cover letter – are up to date. You can search for open summer and seasonal jobs through Job Market Finland. If you don’t find suitable vacancies, you can also publish your jobseeker profile on the platform.

Additional tips for finding a summer job:

  • Explore open summer job opportunities on Job Market Finland and various job portals.
  • Don’t hesitate to contact local companies directly to ask whether they need summer employees – many positions are never advertised publicly.
  • In your application, include a brief introduction of yourself and explain why you’re interested in the job.
  • In your CV, list your education, work experience, and skills such as IT competencies, driving licences, a hygiene passport, or language skills. If you have limited experience, highlight strengths gained through school projects, hobbies, or volunteer work.
  • Always make a written employment contract. A verbal contract is legally binding, but a written one provides greater clarity for both parties. The contract should specify at least the duration of employment, working hours, salary, and job duties.
  • If you are under 30, you can get support for your job search from your local Ohjaamo – youth guidance centre.
  • Be open to different kinds of tasks and apply widely. A summer job offers valuable work experience and an opportunity to earn money.
  • After your employment ends, remember to ask your employer for a written work certificate.
