Employment support can be granted when a company hires an unemployed young person under the age of 30 for an employment relationship lasting at least six months or on a permanent basis. The support covers 50 percent of wage costs, up to a maximum of 1,500 euros per month and for a maximum of six months.

The employment support is particularly aimed at situations where the young person’s chances of finding work on the open labour market are low without financial support for the employer. With the support, the company gets the opportunity to get to know the young person during a sufficiently long employment period, while the young person gains valuable skills and work experience.

Employment support in brief

• Employment support is a form of support prepared by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and granted to employers who hire an unemployed young person.
• The young person to be hired must be 18–29 years old and have been an unemployed jobseeker for at least 6 months.
•  Exception: If the young person has only completed basic education, a minimum unemployment period of 3 months is sufficient.
• The support covers 50 percent of the young person’s task-based salary for 6 months, up to a maximum of 1,500 euros per month.
