Pay security matters will be transferred to the KEHA Centre as of 1 January 2025
Pay security matters will be transferred as a national task to the KEHA Centre as of 1 January 2025. With the change, the KEHA Centre will continue to process pay security applications and pay security claims for recovery. Previously, these tasks were handled by the Uusimaa ELY Centre.
The purpose of pay security is to secure employees' salaries and other employment claims when the employer is unable to pay them due to insolvency. The employee can apply for pay security themselves or authorise a trade union to apply for salary security on their behalf.
Handling pay security matters as of 1 January 2025
Due to the change in the administrative branch, the handling of pay security matters does not require any action from the person applying for pay security. The contact details for pay security remain the same, and the application can be submitted electronically to the KEHA Centre, the municipal employment official, or the Finnish mission abroad.
The processing time for pay security applications may be slower in early 2025 due to the change, and customer service may not be able to provide a reliable estimate of the processing time. The situation is being corrected and the average processing time will be announced as soon as possible.
The KEHA Centre's website contains updated information on pay security matters, and there is a link to it from the current ELY Centre's pay security pages. The pay security matters can be found in an updated form in Finnish and Swedish.
