The Easy Finnish (Selkosuomi) section of Job Market Finland has received the SELKO symbol granted by the Finnish Centre for Easy Language (Selkokeskus). The symbol means that the texts in the section meet with the criteria of Easy Language, i.e. they are as understandable and consistent as possible. In addition, the service is easy to use.

The Easy Finnish section of Job Market Finland is intended particularly for the people who have difficulties in reading standard language texts. However, the section is of use to anyone who wants to have easy-to-understand information about working life and the employment services.

Easy Finnish is a simplified form of Finnish that uses familiar words and short sentences. According to estimations, there are around 800,000 people in Finland who need Easy Finnish.

Easy Finnish is especially useful for

  • the elderly,
  • people with developmental disabilities,
  • people with learning difficulties,
  • neurodiverse people, and
  • people who study Finnish as their second language.

Every day people read many various types of texts, and if the texts are too difficult, not everyone understands them. Everyone has the right to understandable information. At Job Market Finland, we want to make it easier to find a job, be a part of the working life, and deal with the employment authority. That is why we have the Easy Finnish section.
