Unemployment increased in September, Layoffs decreased

The number of unemployed jobseekers rose by 29,200 people compared to September last year. In total, there were 57,800 job vacancies in September, 1,600 more than a year ago.

At the end of September, there were 308,900 unemployed jobseekers in total, which is 29,200 more than a year earlier. However, the number of new unemployment spells started was 4,100 fewer than a year ago.

In September, there were 15,100 fully laid-off individuals, which is 4,000 fewer than a year ago, but 800 more than in August. In total, there were 24,900 laid-off individuals (including those working reduced working week) across the country at the end of September, which is 3,600 fewer than a year earlier.

There were 131,000 long-term unemployed in September, meaning individuals who have been unemployed jobseekers continuously for at least one year. This is 32,300 more than a year ago.

During September, 34,200 new job vacancies were reported, which is 4,600 more than at the same time last year.
