Surveyor
Surveyors measure terrain and create maps and terrain models. The tasks are related, for example, to construction and land-use planning. They can work for the state, municipalities, engineering offices and construction companies, among others. The profession requires proficient command of measurement techniques, perceptive skills, mathematical thinking as well as accuracy and the ability to work independently.

Surveyors must be familiar with the different measurement methods and measuring instruments. Information technology is needed, for example, in the production of maps. The profession also requires perceptive skills and mathematical thinking. Land surveying is based on trigonometry.
The work requires precision, perseverance and the ability to work independently. Teamwork skills are also needed. Good physical fitness and interest in outdoor activities are an advantage in field work.
You can complete a vocational qualification in Land Surveying (surveyor) in upper secondary vocational institutions. After gaining competence, you can also complete a further vocational qualification in Land Surveying. The qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship.
You can study surveying technology at universities of applied sciences. The title of the qualification is Bachelor of Engineering.
