Major differences in development across employment areas
- News
The KEHA Centre’s new national statistical review shows that development across employment areas has progressed at very different rates in the early part of 2026. Some employment areas are already showing positive development.
Unemployment has decreased, for example, in Lapland and Ostrobothnia, while unemployment and long-term unemployment have continued to increase in several areas. At the same time, referrals to active employment services have increased in almost the entire country.
– The national review provides an up-to-date overview of employment services and their implementation in different parts of Finland. It helps identify both positive development trends and areas where additional measures are needed, states Petri Syvänen, Senior Researcher at the KEHA Centre.
The statistical review brings together the key results of employment areas for January–August 2026 and provides an up-to-date picture of the implementation of employment services in different parts of Finland.
