Development of work-based immigration will also continue during this government term
Finland’s success and, consequently, its international competitiveness are based on robust expertise. However, the labour market is suffering from a shortage of skilled employees. In addition to finding employment for the unemployed Finnish citizens, we also need work-based immigration.
To make sure that Finland would be an attractive place for international skilled workers to work and build their life in, we need to take active measures to develop work-based immigration.
The primary aim is to procure labour from EU/EEA countries, but international recruitment is also promoted from third countries.
The government is running several work-based immigration projects. For example, the Talent Boost programme promotes the availability of skilled workers and streamlines the residence permit processes. The action plan against work-based labour exploitation, on the other hand, aims to ensure that the Finnish labour market is safe for everyone.
