The work requires a systematic, meticulous and careful approach. Independence is important when working alone in a small warehouse, while working in a large warehouse requires the ability to adapt to working with a group. Knowing how to drive a forklift is an essential skill in larger warehouses.

This profession involves knowing how to prepare various logistics-related documents, doing inventory, balancing accounts, and tasks related to accounting and telematics. You will have to know how to perform warehousing-related tasks manually, mechanically and with automation.

The profession requires good general fitness, as it involves a lot of walking and lifting. Handling hazardous substances involves its own risks. Dust allergy is a detriment.

Upper secondary vocational institutions offer the Vocational Qualification in Logistics (service logistics worker). After gaining more competence, you can also complete the Further Vocational Qualification and Specialist Vocational Qualification in Logistics.  An upper secondary vocational qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship.

Depending on the warehouse and the job description, a Vocational Qualification in Business Administration or a Bachelor of Business Administration degree may also be appropriate.
