The eligibility criteria for the Youth Recruitment Subsidy will be eased from 1 July 2026. The change also applies to the Tampere Region Employment Area.
The goal of this change is to make it easier for young people to find employment and to expand the options available to employers for receiving support. The current eligibility criteria and application instructions will be updated on the Youth recruitment subsidy page.
Key Changes
The key changes concern the duration of the employment, the duration of the young person’s unemployment, and the employers eligible for the subsidy.
- The required duration of employment for a young person hired with the subsidy will be reduced from the current six months to three months.
- There will no longer be a minimum requirement for the duration of the young person’s unemployment.
- In addition to companies, the subsidy may be granted to registered associations and foundations.
The subsidy may cover 50 percent of wage costs, up to a maximum of 1,500 euros per month. The subsidy period may range from 3 to 6 months.
Target Group for the Subsidy
Support may be granted to an employer who hires an unemployed job seeker aged 18–29. The young person’s municipality of residence must be within the Tampere Region Employment Area, and they must be registered as a job seeker in that area. The employment relationship may begin once the recruitment support agreement has been signed. The subsidy cannot be granted retroactively.
