Update your job applicant profile now – it could help employers find you

The Job Market Finland job applicant profile is like a digital business card for job seekers. In your profile, you can compile information about your skills, education, work experience, and career preferences. Employers can search for talent directly through Job Market Finland and contact interesting candidates via the service.

Starting in September, publishing a job applicant profile will generally become mandatory for all job-seeking customers of employment services. However, it is recommended to complete the profile in advance before the legislative changes take effect.

Why should you complete your profile now?

The main benefit of the job applicant profile is that it focuses on making your skills visible. It is a form of passive job searching that complements your active job search efforts. Personal details are not disclosed to employers; what matters most is your competence and skills. This makes recruitment and job searching more equitable.

Reasons to create and publish your profile today:

1. Receive job recommendations that match your skills and experience.
2. Apply for jobs anonymously.
3. Be discovered for so-called hidden job opportunities.
4. Allow employers to contact you directly.
5. Use AI assistance to describe your skills and competencies.
6. Apply for jobs internationally through the EURES portal.

Many people discover skills, experience, and strengths while completing their profile that they have not previously highlighted in their job search. At the same time, the profile provides an excellent foundation for updating your CV and job applications.

You can also publish a job applicant profile even if you are not currently registered as a job-seeking customer. For example, if you are employed but would like employers to find you, the profile can help increase your visibility.

What should you include in your profile?

Your job seeker profile does not need to be lengthy. The most important thing is that it provides a realistic and clear picture of your skills and career goals.

At a minimum, you should include:

1. Relevant work experience.
2. Education and qualifications.
3. Skills and strengths.
4. Career preferences and job interests.
5. A short description of yourself as a job seeker.

It is also important to include a brief introduction. In just a few sentences, you can explain the type of work you are looking for, what you can offer, and the strengths you would bring to a new workplace.

What information from the profile is visible?

The purpose of the job applicant profile is to help employers find talent, but job seekers decide for themselves what information they add to their profile.

Profiles can be viewed by employers registered with Job Market Finland, private recruitment agencies, and labour authorities in relation to their own customers. Employers cannot see your email address or other personal details through the profile.

If an employer is interested in your skills, they can send you a message through the platform. The message will be delivered to you by email or, from the beginning of September, via Suomi.fi Messages if you use that service.

The job applicant profile is anonymous by default. If you would like to provide more information about yourself, you may choose to attach documents such as your CV or a link to your LinkedIn profile.

What will change in September?

From 1 September 2026, job seekers will generally have 15 working days from the start of their job search to create and publish a job applicant profile. If the profile has not been published within the required timeframe, the labour authority may create and publish a profile on behalf of the job seeker. The customer will still be able to edit the published profile afterwards.

A published profile remains valid for a maximum of six months at a time. In certain situations, exemptions to the requirement may be granted in accordance with the law.
