The work of a property secretary requires customer service skills and knowing the basics and practicalities of the real estate sector. The professional must be able create different documents and agreements. IT and office software skills will be needed.

Good interaction skills and language skills are beneficial when taking care of work tasks. The ability to work in groups and independently is necessary, as are organising skills, diligence and punctuality. If the work tasks include accounting and financial administration, the property secretary must also be familiar the relevant matters.

Their work can sometimes be hectic, which requires good stress management skills and flexibility. The property services sector is a rapidly developing sector where employees are required to keep up with the developing sector.

The basic training of a real estate secretary may be, for example, a vocational qualification in business, which can be completed in upper secondary vocational institutions. The qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship. The Kiinteistöalan koulutussäätiö vocational education foundation organises training for property secretaries, which will make you a qualified property secretary (KISI). 

At universities of applied sciences, you can complete the bachelor of business administration degree.
