In the profession of pharmacy technician, you need knowledge of pharmaceutical logistics and national and international regulations, as well as regulations in the pharmaceutical sector. You are required to have IT skills such as the ability to use financial administration and storage software programmes. You should also master hygiene instructions.

The work requires responsibility, care and precision. If you work in a pharmacy, the focus will be on your customer service skills. The profession requires the ability to work independently, but co-operation skills are also important, as the pharmacy sector often engages in multi-professional co-operation.

Pharmaceutical substances handled at work may expose you to skin and respiratory diseases. Different allergies may interfere with working in the profession. The pharmaceutical industry often carries out shift work.

In upper secondary vocational institutions, you can complete the Vocational Qualification in Pharmaceutics. The qualification title is Pharmacy Technician. The vocational qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship.
