Starting at the beginning of next year, the use of Suomi.fi Messages will be activated for all adults using public authorities' e-services. If you do not yet use Suomi.fi Messages, they will be activated automatically the next time you log in to any authority’s e-service after the turn of the year. From then on, you will receive your official mail digitally in Suomi.fi Messages. However, you may still choose to receive your mail in paper form.
If you have already given consent to use Suomi.fi Messages during Suomi.fi Identification, you are already receiving your official mail digitally. After the turn of the year, no separate consent will be needed.
If you do not wish to receive official mail digitally, despite using public authorities’ e-services, you can opt out when logging in to one of these e-services. After opting out, your official mail will be sent to you in paper form. If you continue using e-services after having chosen paper mail, digital delivery will be re-activated six months after the opt-out.
If you do not use any public authority's e-services, your official mail will continue to be delivered in paper form. You may choose to activate Suomi.fi Messages later if you wish.
At the beginning of next year, it will not yet be possible to receive official mail via private digital mail services. This option will become available when the necessary legislation is adopted and the technical prerequisites are met. The goal is that during 2026, official mail may also be directed to a private digital mail service, if so desired.
