Good physical condition is essential in the work, as sometimes static and physical working positions and conditions can put a strain on the hands and back. The work of a cosmetologist may focus on evenings and weekends, so flexibility is often required in the profession.

In vocational institutions in upper secondary education and training, you can complete a Vocational Qualification in Hair and Beauty Care (Cosmetologist or Cosmetics Consultant).  Once competence has accumulated, a specialist vocational qualification in hair and beauty care can also be completed. The qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship. University of applied sciences Beauty Care degree is a Bachelor of Beauty and Cosmetics.
