Freight forwarders are required to have adequate knowledge of freight and forwarding duties, as well as knowledge of freight documents and regulations. The job requires customer service skills and the ability to get on with different people. A freight forwarder is expected to be diligent, precise, accurate with numbers and systematic.

The independent work requires initiative. The job also requires interpersonal and teamwork. IT and software skills are essential. Good Finnish and English language skills are necessary for the job.

The profession requires a willingness to work shifts.

Employers provide training for freight forwarders. In vocational education and training, you can, for example, complete a vocational qualification in service logistics. The qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship.
