The profession of a prepress employee requires competence in digital printing and skills as well as in materials, typography and image processing. You must be very familiar with the special features of printing techniques and after-treatment and consider their effects in the production of material. In addition to traditional printed products, it is important to master he requirements of banners, packaging and decals for finished printed products.

A good artistic eye, understanding of colours and eye for composition ensure a successful end product. The profession requires IT skills, as planning is done using different software. Quality and cost awareness are also needed in the production tasks of the graphic industry.

Prepress employees are required to be thorough, attentive and able to work under pressure. Taking initiative is needed when working alone, and cooperation skills are key when working in a group in a production. Customer service skills are also needed.

You can also complete a Vocational Qualification in Media and Visual Expression. The qualification titles are the implementer of media services and the implementer of visual expression. The qualification can also be completed through an apprenticeship. Once you have gathered more professional experience, you can also complete a Further Qualification in Media and a Specialist Qualification in Media.
