Security competence is essential, as receptionists must also be able to identify security incidents and react appropriately to any emergencies. Accuracy and diligence are essential, especially in recording information and communicating messages. Language proficiency is often an advantage, as in addition to Finnish, English is needed often. Proficiency in other languages is an added bonus.
Employers often train employees for the job. Vocational qualifications in tourism industry (Receptionist) or safety and security (Security Officer) can be obtained from vocational upper secondary education and training institutions. An upper secondary vocational qualification can also be completed through apprenticeship training.
